Taking Pictures

http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/showthread.php?t=53433

Taking professional photos without going bankrupt: I followed the instructions in the link above to make a light tent. I use a light tent for some items and I use an oak desk top for the rest.

No matter what method you use you will need proper lighting. I use three 100 watt “daylight” bulbs, one on each side and one pointing down.

I use an HP Photosmart R707 5 megapixel camera. It took me a long time and many trial photos to get the correct settings for my camera to take good pictures. These are the settings I use when taking photos in my light tent: White balance set to manual - EV Compensation set to +.3 – image quality set at highest setting – macro turned on – flash set to off – aperture priority turned on and set at highest setting - all other setting are set to auto. These are the setting for taking photos using my oak desk top: macro turned on – flash off – all other setting set to auto.

All cameras today pretty much have the same settings. Whatever camera you have you need to play with the settings a little to get the best photos.

With my camera after taking a photo in the light tent the corners will be a little grey. To fix this I load the photo into photoplus 6 (any photo editing software will work – photoshop – paintshop – and others) and use the paintbrush option and color the corners white. You can also put in watermark.

Below are some examples of my photos and you can view many more here:
